Roscommon is bursting with historical attractions and interesting sights. Celtic mythology enthusiasts can visit the standing stones, cairns and fortresses in the village of Tulsk.

Explore more recent history at Boyle Abbey; the Castlerea Railway Museum, with its collection of rail memorabilia; and 18th Century Strokestown House and Famine Museum.

Visit Kings House, a magnificently restored 18th Century Georgian Mansion. At its Interpretive Centre, kids can don ancient cloaks or write with a quill while the Arigna Mining Experience offers underground tours exploring Ireland’s first and last coal mine.

Additionally, the scenic Wild Atlantic Way is just under an hour’s drive from Gleesons Townhouse and the unspoilt beauty of Connemara is approximately 1 ½ hours from our doorstep. Gleeson’s Townhouse is the ideal location to base yourself when touring the Midlands and West of Ireland.
